Altitude difference!

So I spontaneously accepted in June on Maratona dles Dolomites to start. However, I had to collect a few meters of altitude beforehand, because up until then I had never driven more than two passes in a row, had never climbed as long as I had, and I never did more than 2000 meters in total in one trip.

It was quickly decided which passes should be: Susten, Grimsel and Furka. The weather looked promising and so the project could be put into practice.
So in the morning we started early for Andermatt, from there the tour should begin with the Susten Pass, when I got there I was a bit excited. With a lot of food in Jersey 😀 we started with a short descent to Wassen with the ascent from Susten. I was speechless and just amazed at what a wonderful pass it is and so the 17.7 kilometers up to the top went by as if by itself. I found the Susten pass very pleasant to drive because it had a very even gradient and I probably just did it still had good legs 😉. Once at the top I put on arm warmers and a wind vest and I didn't want to take a long break because I absolutely couldn't estimate how long I would be on the road.

The descent from the Susten Pass was very pleasant, very easy to drive and the decision to go during the week was perfect as there was hardly any traffic.
After the descent, it didn't take long and we went straight to the Grimsel Pass, which was a bit more demanding to drive because the elevation profile was changeable. On the 26-kilometer climb, I set my goal for a house and never lost sight of it, but unfortunately it wasn't the top of the pass yet. The last kilometers are quite tough and there was another section with steeper passages up to the top of the pass. Once at the top it was very windy and I urgently had to eat something 😀.

After I was able to enjoy the view a little and have strengthened myself, it soon went on. I knew that the Furka pass was still waiting for me and what I had read should be something special.
After a short windy descent, it was already in front of me, the climb up to the Furka. With its serpentines it was very nice to drive and the great view made me forget the enormous wind, so the last 11 kilometers long ascent of the day was done.
Once at the top there was of course a photo with the well-known hotel-restaurant Belvédère and again something to eat for me, before the last descent of the day went with a lot of wind. At the end it was another 10 kilometers flat back to Andermatt where my car was parked.
What a great experience! Tired but with a big smile on my face I came home and at the latest there I discovered my passion for driving passes. Here you can see the exit on Strava: Susten - Grimsel - Furka
