Finally the weather in Switzerland got better and for a long time I wanted to discover something new with my bike, and especially to pack my bike-packing bag again. After seeing the Oberalp Pass on TV at the Tour de Suisse stage, I thought that would be a nice goal, which meant I don't have to organize and plan so much. So I booked a hotel in Disentis and packed my bike-packing bags, there wasn’t much to take much as it was just an overnight stay.
I started at the crack of dawn. The traffic was still good in the morning and it was easy going to Lake Lucerne, it was here where I took a short coffee. I then proceeded onto Andermatt via Altdorf and Göschenen.
The new Cyclingpath up to Andermatt was definitely a highlight, which made a really enjoyable feature to the route. However if I can suggest that if you take on this route you pay attention around the twists and bends, as they as the corners are unexpected and the road is narrow, which can be tricky with oncoming traffic.
After another coffee in Andermatt, I continued over the Oberalp Pass to Disentis. The ascent is not really steep nor is it really long as it is only around 10 kilometers. From my experience I really enjoyed it. After a longer 20-kilometer descent, I arrived in Disentis ahead of schedule.
It was planned that I would have climbed the Lukmanierpass up and down again, but this pass was closed due to a landslide. So I ended up enjoying the afternoon in Disentis before going to the hotel.
The next morning, the ride home was on the agenda, I repacked my bags, had breakfast and started my journey home. After the first few rolling kilometers, I entered through the Rhine Gorge to Bonaduz. This has always been wonderful route to ride through with its beautiful landscape, I highly recommend it.
After a coffee stop, the journey became a little challenging because I now rode into a headwind, I continued over Landquart to the Walensee. In Weesen where I stopped again briefly to fill up my bottles before going home. I think it would be fair to say that I really enjoyed my trip, the two days, was a much needed break and definitely made me want more.
Let's see where the next adventure takes me. 🙂
First day: Finally back in the mountains
Second day: And back!

More and more people really need to check this out and understand this side of the story. I was surprised that youre not more popular because you certainly have the gift.
